Argentina

Caminito a popular area of the La Boca neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina known as the place that inspired the music of the tango Caminito.

Buenos Aires requires a do over from me. It was the last leg of a five week, five country, 50th birthday trip. I began feeling bad and didn’t quite know what was wrong.  By the time I got to Iquazu Falls the very last leg of the trip, I was still not sure what was wrong but I knew for a fact it wasn’t good. I wasn’t in pain but definitely not in tip top shape. Arriving back in Germany I dropped my luggage in the hallway, took a shower and drove myself to the emergency room and did not return home for ten days because the hospital kept me. I was septic and they had to cleanse my system before they could operate. So I don’t have many pictures of Argentina and have little memory of the city. What I do remember was eating Argentinean grass fed beef for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I could not get enough of it. It really is the best beef I have ever tasted. Unfortunately beef was not the best thing for my condition.

Going back to Argentina would include a trip back to Buenos Aires to tour it more thoroughly but there would be more time spent in the Mendoza wine country region and any town away from the big city.

Caminito

Caminito in the La Boca neighborhood is all about the Tango. Walking through the neighborhood you are bombarded with staged and spontaneous tango dances on the street. Visually colorful, the neighborhood appeals to your artistic sense, and music is everywhere!

Buenos Aires

Visiting the cemetery was a highlight because it reminded me of the cemeteries in New Orleans. The attraction here of course was the Eva Peron family tomb. She was definitely a champion of the poor and of women rights as well as well.

Gauchos of Argentina

Gauchos are likened to the cowboys of North America. Tough, rugged hard riding gauchos of Argentina are still around as you can see in the pictures below. This was a tour I took of the ranches on the outskirts of Buenos Aires and got to experience the life of a gaucho, some rough riding roping tricks and most importantly the beef from the farm. The best!!

And let’s not forget Toastmasters

Argentina I shall return!!!!!!
